About Evergreen

About Me

Welcome to Evergreen Counseling! My name is Emily Shoemaker and I am a therapist in Fishers, Indiana. I was drawn to this work because of a deeply held belief in the capacity we all have for change. I have been a therapist for 6 years and have experience working with clients of all ages and in a variety of settings including community mental health, intensive outpatient, and private practice. I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, suicide prevention and risk management, LGBTQIA+ informed care, and Eating Disorder treatment through a social justice lens. Throughout these experiences I have grown a well rounded skill set and have come to find my passion working with adult couples and individuals who are processing difficult life transitions, coping with mental illness, and recovering from trauma.

Therapy at Evergreen

My vision when beginning Evergreen was to create an affirming and safe environment which honors the unique needs of each individual. I believe that each person holds inside themselves the ability to heal and that, sometimes, all we need to tap into that ability is a trusted space. My approach to therapy is to support each client in listening to their own intuition while offering insights and guidance based in my areas of expertise. My therapeutic approach incorporates concepts of person-centered therapy, relational therapy, mindfulness, and internal family systems, through an intersectional feminist lens. Above all, I am committed to specializing care to the unique needs and personalities of each client.
